Description

Summary: Coordinates Environmental Health and Safety Program by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Understand, comply with and communicate company and customer EHS program

  • Investigate safety incidents, accidents and near misses

  • Work with site managers, supervisors, hourly employees, and customers to ensureaccuracy of reports, complete root cause analysis,and corrective actions are effective and complete

  • Ensure sites are in compliance with Safety Audit Modules including required documentation, where applicable

  • Conduct site EHS compliance audits

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards; OHSAS 18001 requirements; ISO 14001 requirements;and customer and company rules and policies

  • Develop working relationship with the customer and union and communicate on safety issues

  • Attend site EHS committee meetings to share information and assist with site safety programs

  • Produce and deliver both written and verbal reports

  • Conduct and document job hazard analyses

  • Assist with the development of standardized work and pre-task safety plans

  • Enforce all safety and environmental rules

  • Deliver required training programs for all employees

  • Manage classroom environment - keep control of class, defuse inflammatory comments and questions

  • Ensure training records are maintained per company procedure.

  • Make recommendations to improve EHS processes and training

  • Timely communications within company and with customers

  • Timely follow-up on all open issues

Job Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Training software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.


Other Qualifications:  Must be able to travel 60% of the time.
