General Labor  


Summary Keeps premises of buildings in clean and orderly condition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Detailed deep cleaning of restrooms and replenishing supplies.
  • Cafe and breakroom clean up
  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
  • Cleans surfaces including but not limited to walls, doors, glass, and other vertical and horizontal surfaces.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, vaccume, mop and polishes floors of various surfaces.
  • Usage of chemicals to clean applications.
  • Cleans and vacuums rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Spot cleaning carpet and other various surfaces.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Polishes metalwork.
  • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Trash removal - inluding transoporting, lifting, and placing trash into a trash compactor/gondola.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Sweeping both inside and outside of buildings for loose debris.
  • Cuts and trims grass, and shovels snow.
  • Delivers messages.
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.

Education and/or Experience                                                        

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                                                                 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability                                                             

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
